Unless you can put up with the repair bills go for it. Just know if you blow that clutch, the clutch alone is damn near 800 bucks.

Only $800? That’s not bad at all. Says the M car owner.

Was basically my thought as well. I’ve driven a manual E64 before, but I was 18 and it was an M6.

LOL, my take too - no idea what a clutch on my E46 would be (107k and still original!) but I’m sure even that’s not cheap.

Not a fan of the Bangle butt 6er (or any non-shark nose 6 series for that matter), but V8+manual sounds fun!

I don’t even want to know how much it would cost in either of my BMWs. I didn’t learn on either car and both have a lot of highway miles on them, so I’m hoping I’ve got a while before I find out.

I didn’t like these when they came out, but I really like them now; the LCI did wonders for this generation of 6er IMO.

If you drive smart (don’t slip it a lot) it’ll last a looooong time. Granted, my car doesn’t make much torque, but 107k miles and it still works as well as new.

No way in heaven this has turn signals.

Yeah, whenever I go to a dealer and see a 6 series next to a 3 series coupe (4 series whatever), I would just take the smaller car that still has the SAME amount of passenger room. This one in particular just looks bloated to me.

Seems like it should be cheaper - It’s going on 10 yrs old at this point.

I’d go into the dealership excited about the car, scoff at the manual, then offer $15k for it.

I’m sure they’d buy me scoffing at the manual, after I pull up in my manual BMW.

I also don’t really pay attention to the prices of these, but it does seem on the high side. It’s probably not worth what they want, but it’s probably in the 17k or so range, maybe even 18k.

Bangle’s stuff is really growing on me, especially the 7. They don’t look overdesigned anymore thanks to outlandish modern stuff like the new RX.

A lot of other cars from the period look very dated. These look so right now. I think the pre-LCI cars were ugly, but once they tweaked the styling a little, they got it so right.

Okay rabbit hole incoming:

My friends and I are convinced that sometimes BMW designs the facelift first, then makes it *slightly* uglier for the first few years. Same goes for the M models we think. Not every chassis, but look at the black trim on the M3 vs. the 325i for example:

Kinja'd!!!

Here it’s the same thickness as the black bumper inserts, as it should be. Looks great and makes sense; most cars do this.

Kinja'd!!!

Meanwhile, the non-m trim is half as thin as those inserts for some incomprehensible reason and also sticks out twice as far. Hmm...

I’m not convinced they do the LCI first and make it slightly uglier, cars like the E90 got massive redesigns, which can’t be cheap. The 4 series also just got a very slight face lift, really nothing major.

The whole making the normal cars vs M car, I can buy that. As you know, I’ve got an M3 and an M-Sport 328i. There amount of tiny differences is staggering. Things like stitching on the steering wheel, pedantic things like that, not to mention all the little performance bits M has breathed on. The M is about 5-10% better than a normal BMW, but 5-10% every where makes a difference.
